Printed type specimens are useful things—especially when they’re old. Some represent their time in history. Others document faces that are not available digitally and are ripe for ripping off reviving. We’ve been taking in lots of collections lately and the type specimens are piling up. There’s nothing super-rare here, we don’t think. There’s just a bunch of good hot metal showings from Typefoundry Amsterdam; Berthold; Nebiolo; Fonderie Warnery; Stevens, Shanks & Sons; Stempel, and Stephenson Blake. From the digital era one will find classic specimens from Adobe, Linotype, House, and Emigre. And here’s the best part: They'll all be priced $3 or $4 or $5. Per usual, there will be less-common and more dear specimens peppered throughout the shop, but there will largely be lots for not a lot.
